BYRU is a GSM Satellite service based on the ACeS (ASIA Cellular Satellite) network. The ACeS network is a GSM network using the Garuda-1 satellite technology giving Asia-wide coverage. BYRU allows you to communicate with the entire world from anywhere in Asia.

Ponsel baru dari Ericsson, R190 Super GSM memiliki dua kemampuan jalur komunikasi yaitu satelit dan GSM. Berkat kecanggihan itu, tak ada lagi kesulitan berkomunikasi seandainya si pemakai berada di wilayah blank spot sekalipun.

Dengan ponsel ini, wilayah yang tak terliput oleh jalur GSM dari tiga operator yang beroperasi disini bukan persoalan lagi. Tinggal ganti antena, maka pemakainya sudah bisa berkomunikasi kemana saja. Hebatnya, kualitas suaranya cukup baik sebab tak terputus-putus dan jernih. Tapi wilayah yang diliputnya adalah area Asia Pasifik yang bisa dijangkau oleh jaringan regional satelit milik ACeS dan satelit Garuda-1.


Jaringan satelit ACeS mencakup wilayah yang ditempati oleh 3 miliar umat manusia, juga meliputi 24 negara. Batas jangkauan satelit ini adalah India dan Pakistan di Barat, Pilipina dan Papua Nugini di Timur, Jepang dan Cina di Utara dan Indonesia di sebelah Selatan.


Ponsel R190 Super GSM berfungsi dengan empat pilihan sistem. Yaitu, GSM Preferred (GSM dulu baru cari jalur satelit), GSM Only (hanya cari jalur GSM), Satellite Preferred (Satelit dulu baru cari jalur GSM), Satellite Only (hanya mencari jalur satelit).

The Ericsson R190 is the worlds smallest regional satellite & GSM mobile phone. It is the first satellite telephone to bring true GSM sized handsets and functionality to satellite telephone users.

The ACeS network provides coverage of India, China, Japan and South East Asia (see coverage map). The handset is very easy to use and provides voice and data 2400bps (satellite), 9600bps (GSM). (Data available shortly).
